Description

This exceptional Rioja Crianza has been crafted by Gorka Etxebarria in Rioja Oriental from 30 year old vines. The wine is aged for 12 months in American oak barrels and the result is mesmerising. We tasted the wine against the Reserva at nearly twice the price and this 2017 Crianza triumphed – it is a thing of beauty. Harmonious, with bottle age, oak influences and a classic fruit-forward Rioja style. Fill your boots, decant for 45 minutes to an hour and enjoy! Awards are listed below.

CVNE Contino Reserva Rioja 2016

Among the Worlds greatest wines’ The Wine Enthusiast Contino consistently makes superb Rioja. Their 2016 Reserva from an excellent vintage has wonderful soft rich brambly fruit and a gorgeous... lingering finish and high praise from the critics with scores of 97 from James Sucking and 95 from Tim Aitkins. A top flight Rioja that is as good as it gets for less than £20 a bottle is great value and has a place reserved for it in my cellar.
