Château Léoville Poyferré 2022, unequivocally St Julien and one of the best wines of the appellation, illustrates the perfect balance between modernism and tradition. Just released, this “inouï”, meaning “unheard of” vintage “is already a legendary Poyferré, and it is only halfmade.” ( 19+ Matthew Jukes). We were deeply impressed with it at the recent tastings and are are happy to report that we are in good company, “I was blown away by the 2022 Château Léoville Poyferré” Jeb Dunnuck who awarded it a potentially perfect score (97-100).
This sumptuous, powerful, yet sophisticated and charming St Julien is a classic blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 4% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot (the higher proportion of Merlot adding a silky, sexy roundness while the petit Merlot and Cabernet Franc bring finesse, delicacy, elegance and freshness to the table.)
