The estate today is run by Lillian Barton after her father, Anthony Barton, one of the Bordeaux legends sadly passed away last year. The style of Château Langoa Barton is quite different than that of Château Léoville Barton. Though both are vinified and matured in exactly the same way, a large part of that of course has to do with their vineyards and their location - the vines for Langoa Barton are due south of Leoville Barton and face the River Gironde, with north by north-west exposure. The Château Langoa-Barton blend is dominated by hand-harvested Cabernet Sauvignon, but it sees a higher proportion of Merlot than Léoville-Barton and a touch of Cabernet Franc. The gravel-rich soils and cooling waters of the Gironde contribute to its silky, elegant appeal and ability to age gracefully.
