A remarkably good 2016 that we knew we had to buy the moment we first tasted it. The wine is a delicious blend of Merlot and Malbec, with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, that gives it layers of rich,... lush red berry fruit flavours, soft tannins and a hint of exciting minerality, that totally dwarfs its relatively humble status. It's no surprise this wine won a gold medal from Bordeaux, who are the harshest judges of their own. Château de Grissac dates back to the 14th century and has had a rich history, particularly during the French revolution. It is now owned and run by wine maker Madame Cottavoz who has devoted her life to her vineyards and wine.
