In 1986 Château Beaumont was acquired by the current owners, Société Grands Millésimes de France, who also preside over St Julien's Beychevelle. The Château also uses consultant Eric Boissenot, a renowned oenologist in Bordeaux, who among his other 150-odd clients, 40 are 1855 classed growths, including first-growth Châteaux Lafite, Latour, Margaux, and Mouton Rothschild, plus super-seconds such as Léoville Las Cases and Ducru-Beaucaillou.
Awarded the elevated classification of Cru Bourgeois Supérior in 2020, Beaumont continues to impress, year on year and in 2022, the team at Château Beaumont have produced a lovely wine, "well structured with creamy texture, ripe tannins, fine minerality and very good length"..."fresh”

Owned by the Bich family (of Bic pens fame) since 1978, however it is only relatively recently that the estate began to ramp things up. Since 2010 Pauline Bich Chandon-Moët and her husband Philippe have invested substantially to bring Château de Ferrand firmly into the 21st century, with important and design-led technical changes in the winery, environmental changes with organic practices being implemented in the vineyard (and also many architectural and artistic renovations). The 2022 vintage is the estate's second vintage in its three-year conversion to organic certification; they hope to be fully certified by 2024.
In 2019 new cellars were opened along with renowned consultant Axel Marchal coming on board and following a study of the soils and subsoils, the entire vineyard has been restructured through a rigorous selection of grape varieties according to their ability to adapt to the terroir of each plot and this meticulous attention to detail shows!

Chateau Gardegan, Bordeaux Superieur 2020
Another excellent release from a great vintage. It is softer and more elegant than the 2019 but the style is similar – layers of rich red fruit, underpinned with a hint of plums and spices. Soft... ripe tannins and vanilla from the oak barrels already integrated in the wine and a great long finish. Drink now - 2029. I recommend opening it 30 mins before serving which will allow it to open up.

Chateau Grissac Chateau de Grissac, Cotes de Bourg 2016
A remarkably good 2016 that we knew we had to buy the moment we first tasted it.
The wine is a delicious blend of Merlot and Malbec, with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, that gives it layers of rich,... lush red berry fruit flavours, soft tannins and a hint of exciting minerality, that totally dwarfs its relatively humble status. It's no surprise this wine won a gold medal from Bordeaux, who are the harshest judges of their own.
Château de Grissac dates back to the 14th century and has had a rich history, particularly during the French revolution. It is now owned and run by wine maker Madame Cottavoz who has devoted her life to her vineyards and wine.

Chateau Rieussec Premier Cru Classe, Sauternes 2016
The 2016 Rieussec is gorgeous. Despite the relatively low acidity of the vintage, it preserves a good deal of aromatic freshness, with plenty of lemon confit, passion fruit and coconut overtones. The... decision to lower the Sémillon a touch and increase the Sauvignon Blanc has paid handsome rewards. The 2016 is not a truly profound Sauternes - that would have been nearly impossible this vintage - but it comes close. Quite frankly, it is nearly impossible to spit.

A step up over the Carmes de Rieussec, the beautiful 2016 Château Rieussec has remarkable purity and freshness while still packing beautiful depth of fruit. Honeyed peach, apricot, flower oil, and even a hint of wet stone all emerge from this full-bodied, thick, opulent effort. I love it. It has a rounded, sexy style ideal for drinking any time over the coming 15-20 years. The 2016 is a final blend of 83% Sémillon, 12% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle. 37.5cl bottles.

The 2016 Rieussec is a blend of 83% Sémillon, 12% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle picked form 26 September until 4 November. It has a much more straightforward bouquet compared to the 2015 with light honeysuckle and white flower aromas. There is good acidity in the mouth thanks the passerillé berries, nicely balanced with a touch of orange zest towards the linear finish that will hopefully gain more weight during its élevage. Certified organic, exceedingly well structured and delicate, this... wonderfully affordable Claret offers a beautiful and faithful representation of the Fronsac appellation, one of Bordeaux’s greatest undiscovered appellations, with the added bonus of coming from the 2019 vintage, one of the truly great vintages.
A deep red colour, with an expressive nose with notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, aromas of sweet spices, vanilla. A gorgeous mouthfeel - soft, suave, well balanced, followed by a silky long finish. It is hard to believe that this excellent wine is not a much more expensive bottle. Already drinking beautifully and at just £16.45 per bottle, this is an incredible and affordable everyday drinking wine.

Errazuriz Aconcagua Costa Pinot Noir 2020
A magnificent Pinot Noir from the Errazuriz family who make some of Chile’s most famous wines including Seña & Chadwick which have become global superstars.
Made by their winemaker Francisco... Baettig who is renowned for making the finest Pinot Noirs from Chile, this is a supremely elegant wine lightly aged in oak with great poise & structure. Very fresh & easy to drink with flavours of raspberries, rosehip and a hint of spice.
The vineyards are situated in the Aconcagua Valley first planted by Don Maximiano in 1870, north of Santiago close to the Pacific Ocean – a cool climate perfect for Pinot Noir.
All in all, a delicious, classic Pinot Noir at a price that Burgundy cannot match. Highly recommended.

Harvested from the 'La Escultura Estate,' located just 32 km from the Pacific Ocean, where cool sea breezes help preserve the freshness in the grapes; coupled with warm days allows for gradual ripening of the grapes which helps preserve their aromas, flavours and acidity. The use of native naturally occurring yeasts, allowing natural fermentation and the subtle use of 10% French oak, result in a wine that is unbelievably well balanced. Enjoy it over the next two to three years to experience further integration of oak and fruit.
