Chateau Coutet Premier Cru Classe, Barsac 2019

Bouquet with scents of dried honey, honeysuckle, and orange pith. The palate is honeyed with underlying acidity, adding zestiness and a persistent finish of orange rind and marmalade with notes of... pear, ginger, and exotic fruit. It is rated 94-96 by Neal Martin of Vinous (June 2020) and is recommended to be enjoyed from 2024 to 2055. It also has scores of 93 from Vinous and 92 from Wine Spectator. About Chateau Coutet: The estate, with a rich history dating back to the 13th century, is located in the Barsac appellation of the Sauternes region. It was one of the first vineyards in Sauternes, beginning wine production in 1643. The property was acknowledged by Thomas Jefferson as "the best Sauternes in Barsac." Owned by the Baly family since 1977, Chateau Coutet is known for its luscious and elegant Sauternes. The vineyards, covering 35 hectares, are planted predominantly with Sémillon, along with Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. The unique terroir of the region, along with the influence of noble rot (botrytis cinerea), contributes to the distinctive sweet and concentrated flavor of the wine. 2019 Vintage in Sauternes: The 2019 vintage for Sauternes was characterized by ideal conditions for the development of botrytis, leading to richly concentrated sugar levels in the grapes. This resulted in naturally sweet wines with complex flavors. The vinification process involved multiple picking passes, with the first starting in early October, allowing for the selection of grapes with high potential alcohol content.

Chateau Talbot 4eme Cru Classe, Saint-Julien 2019

James Suckling, jamessuckling.com (June 2020) A juicy, fruity wine with lots of blue fruit, blackberries and dark chocolate. Pretty depth and structure to this. Polished and structured at the same... time Neal Martin, vinous.com The 2019 Talbot has a very cohesive bouquet, "streamlined" being the operative word, before opening gradually to reveal a Pauillac-inspired aromatics, pencil shaving scents permeating the black fruit. Yet it is still unmistakably Talbot. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, creamy in texture with more depth in the middle than previous vintages (a shortcoming that, estate director Jean-Michel Laporte told me in the past he wants to address.) The great aspect of this Talbot is that it doesn't take its foot off the pedal on the finish, exerting impressive grip with that pencil lead lingering in the mouth. Superb. Expect this to land at the top of my banded score. (June 2020)

Errazuriz, Wild Ferment Pinot Noir, Casablanca Valley 2021

‘Wild & wonderful – delicious light Pinot. Light strawberry & hedgerow flavours mingle with clean & fresh & fresh pinot fruit. Delicious – Burgundy watch out” Esme Johnstone "Displaying a... beautiful, bright cherry red colour, the Wild Ferment Pinot Noir offers aromas of cherries, roses and a light touch of mushrooms, all framed by soft smoky tones. The palate is round showing lifted and fresh red fruit. Lovely spicy notes are complemented by hints of oak and great tension that ensures a full and lingering finish." A Pinot Noir crafted with a nod to Burgundy tradition: natural wild yeast fermentation has imparted maximum complexity and charm. The grapes for Wild Ferment Pinot Noir come from La Escultura vineyard, located in Casablanca Valley, 32 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean and from our Aconcagua Costa vineyard which is closer located just 12 km. Warm summer days, morning fog and fresh evening breezes that blow in from the coast, allow for a gradual ripening process of the grapes that helps to preserve their aromas, flavours and acidity. The soil presents fine clay and sandy loam textures with low vigour potential.

Joseph Drouhin, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, Les Embazees 2019

""The wine is bright with a light golden colour. Its aromas, reminiscent of hawthorn, acacia, honeysuckle, evolve toward hazelnut, and after a few years maturing, deliver some hints of honey and ripe pear. On the palate, this opulent wine offers long lasting flavours lingering a long time in the aftertaste"." - Joseph Drouhin
